Authorization letters, also known as letters of authority, are written to those people who we want to take some actions on our behalf. In other words, we give our authority to someone else so that he can take action as well as make decisions on our behalf.
What is an authorization letter to claim money?
In this letter, we allow a person to act on our behalf and make a claim for money. We usually do it when we want to get money back from an institution.
Who writes this letter?
There is no hard and fast rule about who can write this letter and who cannot. Any person who has any kind of authority and wants that authority to be used by someone else can write this letter. However, there should be a specific reason for writing this letter. For instance, a person who is not physically well or not physically present where he has to claim back pay can authorize someone who is present in that location and can easily claim the money.
Why is it important to write?
When you ask one of your friends or family members to go and collect money that you had to collect, the person might not give money to that person as he does not know him. So, if you want to prove that the person has been authorized by you, you need to write a letter of permission to that person. This letter will be shown at the time of the money claim.
The sample letters given below will hopefully clear many doubts:
Sample letter 1:

Respected Mr. ABC,
Through this letter, I would like to take the opportunity to inform your company that I, _________ (mention your name) would like to authorize the bearer of the letter who is _________ (mention the bearer’s name) to claim the back pay since I am unable to claim it myself because of being out of the country.
As per my instructions, _________ (bearer’s name) will provide his identity card on my behalf as proof of his identity. It is my humble request to you to please allow him to sign all the documents where my signatures are needed to claim back pay.
I hope that your company does not have any problem with this. If you want to know more about this authority I am giving to ________ (bearer’s name), please contact me at [contact]. Thank you so much for your consideration.

Subject: Authorization to claim money
Respected Mr. ABC,
I am writing this letter to let you know that I am out of the country and due to this, I will not be able to claim the money that we discussed earlier. Since I need this money, I have decided to authorize ___________ (mention the name of the person) to claim money on my behalf.
I authorize _________ (mention the name) to claim money and sign all the necessary documents that are required to be signed to perform the transaction of the claimed money successfully. __________(mention the person in authority) holds all the rights pertaining to claiming the money and your company will not be answerable before the law if it pays my authorized person upon my permission. Furthermore, I assure you that I will not hold anyone accountable if my money is paid to the person being permitted to take it.
Thank you so much for considering my request. If you have any questions or you want to inform me of anything that I did not know before writing this authorization letter, I can be reached via my official email address and also via my contact number mentioned at the end of the letter. I hope that the person in authority will be able to claim and collect money at his earliest convenience. I look forward to your response.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
