This letter is written by an employee to his employer to submit an excuse or express his feelings of sorry for not attending a seminar. Seminars are very important for a reputed organization in terms of learning new techniques and skills. Missing such an opportunity means that employees are depriving themselves of progress, which may prove disastrous for their careers. At times, it becomes impossible for an employee to attend a seminar owing to an emergency that may arise at any time, regardless of the event.
To cope with the stress caused by his absence and to make a settlement with the management, the employee can use this letter with complete confidence. Instead of excusing orally, writing is vital in depicting a clear picture of the situation that stopped him from attending the event.

Dear Sir,
I regretfully write this letter to submit my excuse for not attending yesterday’s seminar. My colleague informed me about your displeasure caused by my absence. The seminar was a significant event due to the internationally recognized speakers from renowned companies.
I was unfortunate not to attend the seminar because we were supposed to learn new office management skills from great representatives. My utmost desire was to participate in this event of great prestige, and I had never thought of missing it. But then, due to some unavoidable circumstances, I couldn’t attend the seminar.
I was getting ready for the seminar yesterday. Suddenly, my wife started crying loudly. On asking her, she informed me about the grandmother’s death, who was living in New York. I was shocked to listen to this and went out of my senses. At that time, instead of participating in the seminar, I thought leaving for New York to attend her funeral ceremony was necessary. In doing so, I had utterly forgotten to inform you or any colleague, which was a big mistake.
I am a responsible employee and always keen to learn new management skills, but due to the sad demise of my grandmother, I could not make it happen. Considering my interest, I request you include my name in the next batch of employees attending the seminar. I shall be very grateful to you.
Regards,
Damien Fleming

Dear Sir,
I want to say thanks for inviting me to the upcoming seminar on the 1st of June, 20XX, to present my research findings in its introductory session. I was very excited to be honored by your reputed and internationally recognized organization. I was preparing my papers a few days ago when I had to withdraw my preparation. I regretfully inform you that I cannot participate in the seminar due to a medical emergency.
Three days ago, I felt a sudden pain in my leg. Within one hour, it spread in all directions, and then I was taken to hospital emergency for treatment. After a detailed medical examination, the doctor suggested I complete the medical rest for one month. I am very sorry for being absent from the seminar as my health condition is not entirely normal.
I am also an employee, and I am aware of the embarrassment you may feel in my absence. Therefore, considering the whole situation, my colleague can present my part of the presentation, or I may be available tvideIt’snkidIt’ssnk. It’s up to you how to accommodate me in the seminar. Once again, I want to say thanks for inviting me.
Regards,
Steve Waugh
